Referring an animal
The CVU is a specialist veterinary clinic. Indeed, recognized European and American specialists are present in many departments: internal medicine, surgery, emergency and intensive care, ophthalmology, cardiology, anesthesia, imaging, dermatology, obstetrics...
We offer two main services:
- handling emergencies (24/7, 365 days a year)
- receiving animals for specialised consultations (typically for animals referred by their general veterinarian).
In order to optimise the care of the animals and to facilitate communication with the owners, we propose to follow a few key steps in order to ensure the proper transmission of information.
Cases referred for specialist consultation or emergency :
- For specialist consultations, please use this referral form. Please note that this form only serves as a transfer of information. To make an appointment at his or her convenience, the owner can send an e-mail to contact.ac.cvu@uliege.be or call 04/366.42.00.
- In case of emergencies, we also recommend that you call us directly on 04/366.42.00 to ensure that your pet is well received.
- Refer the animal to a discipline and not to a particular specialist, as our colleagues' schedules may vary over time.
- Explain to the owners that you are referring a case to us for a full treatment and not just to carry out specific complementary examinations. Our team will always discuss openly with owners what further investigations are possible and desired, and the costs involved.
- Their pet will be seen by a student, as well as a veterinarian; therefore, waiting and consultation times may be a little longer than expected in a private clinic.
