Eating is a joy

Our little companions eat every day as they go through the different stages of the life cycle: birth, weaning, growth, adulthood and aging. Each stage has its own energy and nutritional requirements. Apart from age or life cycle, needs are strongly influenced by breed, activity, spaying or neutering, living environment or the amount of time you devote to activity (play, walks, sport ....).

P Disciplines nutrition

As each pet is unique, it is important to feed it as precisely as possible, balancing its needs and individual intake, while taking into account your wishes, preferences and means. There is no single diet or way to feed your pets, each method has its advantages and disadvantages.  The importance of feeding your pet the right amount of quality food should not be underestimated: it is the best way to prevent various diseases such as digestive diseases or obesity.

In addition, if your dog or cat develops a disease during its life that requires dietary adaptation, the clinical nutrition consultation aims to help you find the most suitable diet. Illnesses that require a special diet include overweight and obesity, cancer, chronic kidney or heart disease, liver failure, food allergies (skin or digestive) and generally all diseases of the digestive system.

During a nutrition consultation, we take stock of the health problems, and a dietary history is drawn up before formulating a change of diet.  The clinical nutrition consultation is organised by appointment at the CVU, by contacting Prof. M. Diez directly by email (mdiez@uliege.be).
