Analysis laboratory

Most analyses required for medical diagnosis are carried out in the clinic's in-house laboratory.

These include

  • Hematological analyses: blood counts, blood formulas, etc
  • Biochemical analyses: pre-anaesthetic work-up, renal exploration, liver exploration, etc
  • Electrolyte analysis, including ionized Ca.
  • Blood gases
  • Investigation of secondary and primary hemostasis by thromboelastography (TEG)
  • Rapid serological tests: FeLV-FIV, Angiotest, Parvotest, etc
  • Complete urinalysis: density, tigette, microscopy
  • Cytological examination of various samples (blood, urine, other fluids/secretions, fine needle puncture, tracing, etc.)
  • Blood typing (blood group)

Other analyses are subcontracted to specialized laboratories (microbiological (cultures, PCR, etc.), hormonal, histological/cytological, genetic analyses, etc.)

The laboratory is equipped with specialized analyzers for veterinary medicine and operates 24/24 under the responsibility of a team of competent technicians and ASVs.

Analyses are carried out directly after sampling. Results can then be transmitted directly to clinicians, enabling them to make a rapid diagnosis and ensure accurate management of animals.

Teaching

As the laboratory is located in the clinic, Master's students benefit from integrated, comprehensive teaching. They learn how to perform certain analyses themselves, and how to interpret the results obtained.

Thanks to a large room equipped with several microscopes (with multiple heads or with image projection on screen), students also learn how to analyze cytological samples.

Research

When samples are taken for diagnostic purposes, some of them may not be used. This surplus, with the owner's agreement, is stored in a biobank so that it can be used later for research. Our clinic is also active in clinical research. With the help of doctoral students and research assistants, we are striving to advance veterinary medicine.
