Interventional Cardiology
Interventional cardiology is an evolving discipline in veterinary medicine.
Treatment is performed minimally invasively on your pet to reduce pain and recovery time. During the various procedures, small incisions are made close to large vessels and various catheters are inserted into the patient's heart, using advanced imaging techniques.Procedures performed include
- Implantation of pacemakers in animals with abnormally low heart rates
- Closure of abnormal vessels (patent ductus arteriosus)
- Balloon opening of heart valves that are too narrow.
