Urothelial carcinoma of the bladder and urethra of dogs
Objectives of the study
To better characterise the immune system response to the development of urothelial carcinoma in dogs in order to improve its diagnosis, understanding, prognosis and treatment.
Inclusion criteria
- Dog with a bladder or urethral mass
- No comorbidity
- No current treatment
- Confirmation of the diagnosis of urothelial carcinoma via biopsy.
Description of the protocol
The following examinations are performed during the diagnostic visit:
- Clinical examination
- Complete blood work-up
- Urinalysis
- Abdominal ultrasound
- Biopsies of the bladder or urethral lesion
- Chest X-ray
In case of a confirmed diagnosis of urothelial carcinoma, the data will be used for scientific and educational purposes.
Implications for the owner
Give permission for the use of clinical and biological data anonymously to the University Veterinary Clinic in the informed consent.
Compensation
For any dog presented in consultation with a bladder mass, without any other comorbidity, and without current treatment:
àFree consultation and blood test (i.e. 130€ in 2022) as part of the protocol with full investigative workup.
