A number of situations may prompt a consultation with internal medicine. The affected organ/system may not be immediately identified. The animal's symptomatology may be poor and vague or, on the contrary, too rich and complex. The animal may be affected by several organs/systems, requiring a global approach.
Internal medicine for companion animals is a complex discipline requiring in-depth knowledge of the pathologies of various systems, such as the digestive, hepatobiliary, respiratory, urinary, endocrine and hemato-immunological systems.
Thanks to advanced diagnostic techniques and cutting-edge knowledge in the management and treatment of a wide range of diseases, the Internal Medicine Department does its utmost to care for your pet. To do so, it works in close collaboration with other CVU departments (medical imaging, surgery, oncology, reproduction, neurology, cardiology, dermatology)
Services offered
Comprehensive management of your pet's medical problems in close collaboration with your attending veterinarian.
A number of complementary examinations can be offered, usually on the same day as the consultation or during a second appointment: blood tests, urinalysis, blood pressure, microscopy, endoscopy, biopsies, joint puncture, bone marrow puncture, infectious agent tests, imaging, etc
In certain cases, when the animal's condition requires close monitoring and intensive care, it may be hospitalized.
Practical details
Internal medicine appointments are scheduled every day.
For each patient, we try to carry out all complementary examinations on the day of the consultation. As several examinations may need to be carried out, which can take time, we sometimes suggest that you entrust your pet to us during the day, so as not to keep you waiting unnecessarily.
