Orthopaedics
A holistic approach for your pet. Orthopedics and neurosurgery can be consulted for a variety of reasons. Cases involving these disciplines, all related to locomotion, include skeletal traumatology, non-traumatic lameness and spinal cord ataxia/paralysis.
Thanks to specialist clinical experience, a wealth of advanced diagnostic techniques and cutting-edge knowledge in these fields, the Orthopedics Department does everything in its power to help your pet. To do so, it works closely with other CVU departments (medical imaging, medical neurology, oncology, specialized internal medicine ...).
Services offered
Comprehensive management of your pet's locomotor problems in close collaboration with your attending veterinarian.
A number of complementary examinations may be offered, often on the same day as the consultation or during a second appointment: osteo-articular palpation under anaesthetic, skeletal imaging (radio, echo, scanner, IRM), joint puncture/injection, arthroscopy..
When the animal's condition requires surgery, close monitoring and constant care, it may be hospitalized.
Practical details
Orthopedic appointments are scheduled on Mondays and Tuesdays.
We try to carry out as many complementary examinations as possible on the day of the consultation. As this can take time, we sometimes suggest that you leave your pet with us for the day, or bring it back for another day, so as not to keep you waiting unnecessarily.
Our team
The orthopedic/neurological surgery department is staffed by surgical specialists and their assistants.
